Our Team Bios
Jake Laing
Jake Laing is a proud co-owner of Trusted Truck Transport (TTT), a leading truck transportation service provider in the United States. With a passion for sales excellence and an honest commitment to his clients, Jake expects to make TTT a trusted name in the truck transportation industry.
Born and raised in Kansas with a tight-knit business family, Jake has always had the desire to work for himself and provide value to others. Following in his parent’s footsteps to be kind and hard-working, success through relational integrity has always been his goal. Jake is grateful that his work journey has led him to the trucking industry.
Jake enjoys golf, K-State University sports, the Kansas City Chiefs and spending time with loved ones. If you know Jake, he is a genuine friend, and his word is his honor.
He agrees that working in the drive-away industry is such a unique and rewarding experience. Everything moves very quickly, and many parts need to come together to provide a smooth process for the customer. Jake enjoys the rush, fluidity and constant communication; but most of all, he enjoys all the people. Everyday is a different day in this business and no interaction with drivers or truck sellers/buyers is the same. There is never a dull moment in drive-away. Jake plans to create a great service backed with the utmost integrity that can add value to the industry and maintain a standard of doing right by all the hard working people he encounters.
Jake is determined to make TTT a household name that his clients refer to their friends for many years to come.
Jim Marmon
In the early summer of 1991 our founder, Jim Marmon, found himself sitting in a 1970’s single-wide trailer behind a farmhouse in Bonner Springs, KS for his first day in what would become his lifetime passion and career. He was only 19 then and the 2” green shag carpet and three-legged cocker spaniel sitting next to him with a flea infestation issue was intriguing to say the least. But the pay was good for a college student, $5.00/hour, and he needed gas money so he came back the next day. That commitment led to a great adventure to say the least. He worked for that company, Jayhawk Truck Transporters, one of the original independent drive-away companies for nearly four years and then shortly after graduating from college in 1993, began his entrepreneurial journey and opened his first drive-away company with a business partner in 1995 on borrowed money from several credit card companies with average interest rates of 26%. It might sound crazy but when you have a dream, you do whatever it takes to fulfill it. After growing that enterprise by 10X in just under 12 years, Jim decided it was time to run his own company. So, in 2006, the business partners went their separate ways and Jim opened his 2nd, this time wholly owned, drive-away company and rapidly grew that to over 400 Independent Contract drivers with one of the best reputations in the industry. He then sold his interest in 2015 and took an early retirement break.
Fast forward 9 years, we are starting this new venture with lots of experienced and excited young-minded people full of vitality and vigor and we expect to once again shake up the industry and provide a better experience for both our customers and our drivers. The fire is back and drive-away is still a fast growing in-demand business that has room for great competition and improvement.
